International alternative networks are agencies that are not commercial that are able to keep up with the advancement of media and information within their countries. They differ from imperialist electric power constructions which might be on the inside directed, and they are self-sufficient, non-commercial options that strive to bring multimedia in the 21st century. They started in the 1990s. Today, they comprise many forms of media such as videos and news sites. Many of them have evolved to be multinational companies and are an integral element of any democratic media strategy.
These groups are united by their non-commercial ethos, and opposition to the imperialist system of power. These groups promote their views by organizing information and communication reform campaigns and by promoting an inclusive and equitable Internet. They also develop new infrastructures for communication that help local and regional developments related to social movements.
The strength of these networks is realized in cooperation, through the organizing of campaigns for social movements and media reform campaigns which adapt information and communication to benefit everyone. They are creating a complex network of local-local, transnational (especially south-south) regional, and other connections that bypass the old colonial power dynamics as well as links between south and north.
While these international networks face numerous obstacles like a lack of capital and qualified staff they carry on to build regional connections as well as promoting the democratization process of information and communication reforms. They are now a vital part of the fight for more environmental sustainability and human rights.
