Born a US citizen in Hong Kong, he was raised in Portland; graduated Oregon State University -1944 and spent his 40yr research career at the Astoria - OSU Seafoods Lab, retiring as a full professor in Food Science. He married Flora in 1950, and with his wonderful wife, raised & influenced 6 kids & 17 grandchildren.
